MultiModal Travel Information Services
This guide helps public authorities, transport authorities, infrastructure managers, mobility providers and other data holders understand and implement the European Multimodal Travel Information Services (MMTIS) Regulation.
Established through Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/1926 and revised by Regulation (EU) 2024/490, MMTIS aims to ensure that accurate, up-to-date, and multimodal travel information is available across Europe. The regulation requires mobility data to be made available through National Access Points (NAPs) using common standards such as NeTEx and SIRI, enabling interoperability and the development of multimodal journey planners and Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions.
This guide provides practical insight into the regulatory requirements and the challenges organisations face when making mobility data available and reusable. It explains the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders throughout the data chain, including transport authorities, transport operators, infrastructure managers, transport-on-demand providers, and travel information service providers. The guide also outlines the most important updates introduced by the revised regulation, such as the inclusion of parking data, the removal of charging and refuelling station data, new phased deadlines for dynamic data provision, and a stronger focus on data quality, interoperability, and collaboration.
